Not every tournament is a Championship run — some are something better. This weekend, the Rebels accepted a different kind of challenge: stepping into a 12U field as an 11U team, going toe-to-toe with older, bigger competition, and finding out exactly where they stand.
The answer? They belong. A tie, a loss, and a win against 12U opponents isn’t a record to hang your head about — it’s a résumé to be proud of. These kids went 1-1-1 against a field that had every physical and experience advantage, and they competed in every single game. That tells you more about this team than any Championship trophy does.
The Rebels entered this tournament as an 11U team competing in a 12U bracket — playing against kids who are typically a full year older and further along in their development. Every stat, every hit, and every run scored this weekend carries extra weight.

12U Competition Level
Tying the Cannons 12U in game one set the tone — these weren’t 11U kids out of their depth, they were competitors. The CC Phillies handed the Rebels their most lopsided result, but the Rebels answered in game three with a dominant 9-4 win over the Tribe that showed exactly what this team is capable of when it’s clicking. Ending the weekend with a victory against 12U competition is the right note to go home on.
Offensive Standouts
Against older pitching with more velocity and movement, several Rebels stepped up with performances that would stand out in any bracket.
Julian
The biggest individual moment of the weekend belonged to Julian. 5-for-7 at the plate against 12U pitching, with 6 RBIs, 1 run scored, and a home run — yes, a home run against older competition. That’s a statement at-bat that no one in that park will forget, and it’s a sign of what Julian is capable of as this team makes the jump to 12U.
Home Run 6 RBI 5-for-7 1 Run
Izaiah
4-for-7 with a double, 3 runs scored, 4 RBIs, 1 walk, and 4 stolen bases — Izaiah was one of the most complete performers all weekend. Extra-base power, RBI production, and speed on the bases against 12U arms and fielders. Impressive doesn’t cover it.
4-for-7 4 RBI 3 Runs 1 2B 4 SB 1 BB
Federico
4-for-8 with 3 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 walk, and a stolen base. Federico kept getting on base all weekend and doing what he does — making things happen. Producing at a .500 clip against 12U pitching is no small thing.

On the Mound
Pitching against 12U hitters is a genuine test — the swings are harder, the contact is louder, and mistakes get punished more severely. The Rebels’ staff navigated the step up with varying results, but there were real highlights mixed in.
| Pitcher | IP | H | ER | BB | K |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sebastian | 3.1 | 3 | 0 | 1 | — |
| Gio | 2.0 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
| Jackson | 3.0 | 2 | 1 | 6 | 1 |
| Bradley | 2.0 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
| Ricky | 2.2 | 5 | 4 | 2 | 1 |
| Total | 13.0 | 15 | 6 | 11 | 3 |
Sebastian and Gio (✦) were the standouts on the mound — both threw scoreless outings against 12U hitters, which is genuinely impressive. Sebastian went 3.1 innings and didn’t allow a run, and Gio matched him with a clean 2-inning appearance.
Those are the kinds of outings that build confidence heading into the 12U era. The walks were a theme across the staff this weekend — something to sharpen — but giving up only 6 earned runs across 13 innings against older competition keeps things in perspective.
Behind the Dish
Jackson made his presence felt behind the plate, throwing out 2 of 4 attempted base stealers against 12U competition. A 50% caught-stealing rate against older, more experienced baserunners is a strong showing and a reminder that the Rebels have real defensive value behind the dish.
The Bigger Picture
“Anybody can beat up on teams their own age. The real question is what happens when you raise the bar. This weekend, the Rebels raised it themselves — and showed they’re ready for whatever comes next.”
A 1-1-1 record in a 12U field as an 11U team. A home run from Julian. Scoreless outings from Sebastian and Gio against older hitters. A 9-4 win to close the weekend out. There’s plenty to build on here — and plenty of motivation to keep getting better.
The families who packed up and made the trip out to watch these kids compete up a level — it means everything. This community shows up every single time, and so do these players.
The bar keeps rising. The Rebels keep clearing it. ⚾
